Thanks for the comment, but I'd be interested in why you don't agree with my opinion on this particular plane. I've been really happy with it and although I've since sold it, the person who bought it was happy with it too.

Well, I posted a mail to Multiplex to sort this stupidity out>>

"Hello,

First, thanks for an absolutely wonderful product!!! I bought the Royal Pro12 a while back and the M-link module. I had to upgrade the TX to be able to use the M-Link module. So far so good, as I have about two dozens of airplanes/helis and two sailingboats using Spektrum receivers, some of them with the "built-in" RX as some of the helis and indoor planes. When I saw that Spektrum offer a transmitting module for the Royal Pro I felt really glad! My plan is to use the M-link in my serious planes and helis in the future as the product is super and to use the spektrum module to all my other models.
After installing the module and trying to bind the equipment I realised thet it doesn't work? I consulted some of the forums in the RC world on the Internet and I realised to my big disappoinment that you/Multiplex have implemented a code in the software to exclude 3rd party modules. This means that I can't realize what I want to do, use your wonderful radio with several of my models. This is really disappointing. I believe that you make the really high-end equipment for the RC-world, you have always been very flexible and reliable. The fact that you feel threatned by low quality manufacturers like Spektrum and implementing this kind of stupid blockers are not like you/Multiplex. Now, I will have to reconsider the whole setup of my hobby and maybe give up my dream of using Multiplex radio. I can of course change all my receivers where it is possible and you will sell lots of gear, which I for the moment wouldn't like do. Unfortunately I won't be able to use many of my appreciated "bind-n-fly" models.
Next possibility would be to return the radio to you and continue to use the Spektrum radios, as they now have came out with a realy good computer radio (DX8), I don't want to but...
Third possibility woud be to kindly ask you to remove this blocking code in the software and everybody would be happy, and you will continue to stand up for your reputation!
Fourth option would be to let someone crack your software and remove the code, but that would be a stupid solution and not very nice.

So, please answer me and tell me that you will remove the code and that there will be a new release of the software to upgrade to! Continue to stay in the front of the RC world!"

I urge anyone with the same opinion to do the same thing!

Brgds,

You've come upon one of the things that Multiplex has really angered a lot of people with. I love my Evo 12, but the new upgrade to "Pro" and the software updates to block the direct PPM signal to third party modules is crazy. To the best of my knowledge and I'm not an engineer...you have to be running software version 2.62 or earlier to make the module work in the Evo. To do this you can download the version and rename it to the newest versions name so the installer will do it. For some reason it won't let you "update" to an earlier version. Once you've done this update to ver 2.62 you can jumper the 2 and 5 pin to get things working. At least it worked with my Evo that was updated to a Royal Pro 12....I've never used one of the 16's so I can't make too many guarantees there.

Let us know what you find out though. Good luck.

Hello,
This seems to be a very interesting post-thread. I have been using Spektrum systems to all my models, Sailplanes, Acrobatic planes, Helis, Indoor even sailingboats. A while back I wanted to have the Multiplex Royal Pro radio and I bought the Pro16 radio. At the same time I bought the Spektrum module for this radio, I had to wait for about a 3/4 of a year to get it but now I have it. Installed it yesterday and nothing happened when I tried to bind it :-(
Is this the fix to do? The one with the jumping between the two terminals? Is even any idea to try it as I have the very latest software in the transmitter, cant remember exactly thou?

With the 2.62 version, the Evo works with the jumper but once you bind all your recievers they are bound to the same frequency. In other words you can fly all your different recievers on the same model number. HELP? I've waited three years for this module now I have to send it back. Is there another fix?

That seems to be the normal mode with the Spektrum module installed, mine is the same way.

The problem only happens with the "Pro" version of the Royal Evo line. When I sent mine in for a repair a while back, it came back "upgraded" and when Multiplex did the Pro, they blocked the PPM signal to disable modules requiring direct PPM signal. Without jumping the two terminals the module won't bind to a receiver or anything.

Greg, could you kindly describe the nature of the problem? I installed mine and benchtested by just observing if servos respond as expected (maybe I did not do this well). Your video is great - I linked to our club's web site.
